White Forest Hesitant Women 34 x 40
Alexis was born in New York in 1950. She began seriously studing art in 1976 when she entered the Fashion Institute of Technology in a fine arts degree program. That program gave her a solid grounding in classical study of anatomy, perspective, design, drawing and the techniques of oil paintings.
After FIT Alexis attended the Art Student League, the National Academy of Fine Art & Design, Brooklyn Museum School, Westchester Art Workshop, and Westchester Community College. She apprenticed both with Peggy Fuller of Golden Arches Studio in Mount Kisco, N.Y. and Jean Carbonnetti of Crow Hill Gallery in Chester, Vermont.
In 1991 Alexis moved to Johnson, Vermont. Johnson Vermont is an art colony centered around a year round residency program called Vermont Studio Center.
